‘Be careful of floor sewage leaks!
‘Washing machine and washbasin leaks from the joints are the most troublesome!’
Washing machines and washstands are common areas for water leakage from under the floor.
The laundry pan is connected to the drain, there is a faucet under the washbasin, and in the case of shampoo dressers, the bellows hose is covered, making it very difficult to notice water leaks.
When a leak is noticed, the floor is flooded and the floor needs to be replaced, which can be very costly.
If you notice any discomfort during daily use, such as “the water is not coming out properly,” “there is a strange odor coming from the washing machine,” or “water is trickling out from under the washing machine or washbasin! If you notice any of these things, please check under it first.
Tilt the washing machine at a slight angle, and for the washbasin, check the faucet and plumbing joints.
If you find a leak, it may be due to clogging or deterioration, so do not leave it as it is and contact a professional contractor.
If so, call first for a free consultation and estimate, and if you can take care of the problem yourself, ask about remedies.
Troubleshooting and solutions for washing machine / washbasin problems and malfunctions
-
(1) Causes of water leakage from washing machine and how to fix it
Water leakage from a washing machine can be divided into three main areas: the water supply hose connection, the water supply and drainage hoses, and internal leakage. Each of these can be caused by loose joints, deterioration of internal parts such as gaskets, or damage.
The main method of solving these problems is to replace or exchange the leaking parts, but water leaks from inside the washing machine are particularly difficult to solve. In the case of internal leaks, most of the work is done while disassembling the machine, which is not easy to do at home, so a professional plumber is usually required.
When repairing leaks from faucets and drainage hoses, be sure to read the manual carefully to confirm the model number and other details before proceeding. -
(2) Repair or replacement of leaking laundry pan/drain
The cause of the strange and foul odors that are noticed when doing laundry is mostly due to the drainage trap installed in the laundry pan, and the solution is to replace the drainage trap or repair it by cleaning it, etc.
The drainage trap is simply explained as a device to channel the wastewater from the laundry tank and control backflow, clogging, and odors from within the drainage ditch. It also serves to prevent insects from coming up through the drain.
However, if left unattended for many years, dirt and grime can clog the drain trap and become sludge-like and stick to it. This can easily cause water leakage into the laundry pan, and bad and foul odors can also occur along with the backed-up drainage.
Although parts can now be purchased at home improvement stores, if done incorrectly, the trap will not function properly and may even get worse, so adequate knowledge and skill are required to repair the trap. -
(3) Water leakage in washroom and how to solve it
Most washbasin leaks occur from faucets and taps. In the case of a shampoo dresser with a shower head, leaks can also occur from the bellows hose, and unexpectedly, there are some leaks that are difficult to notice.
It is not uncommon to find water on the floor one day and the waterproof sheet has floated away. The cost of replacing the floor and cleaning the mold can be very expensive.
The main solution is to repair the leak. The best way to fix a leak is to use the same model number, but it is not often replaced, the sticker with the model number or part number printed on it is tattered, and often the parts do not fit.
In such cases, we recommend that you call us for a free consultation and free estimate, which is very convenient. -
(4) Areas of the washroom that are prone to clogging and how to unclog them
The most common place in a bathroom that is prone to clogging is the drain.
If drainage and flow is poor, it is difficult to flush out water.
The main cause of clogging is sludge-like dirt from hair, soap scum, cigarettes, and other small particles of dust and dirt that have accumulated in the drain. This is especially true since this is where you brush your teeth and shave every morning.
A simple solution is a rubber cup (spoon) and liquid detergent such as Pipe Unish. First pour the liquid detergent into the drain pipe, then allow a little time for it to settle before spooning it into the pipe with a rubber cup. This should usually solve the problem, as the dirt should dissolve and break up easily.
If this does not solve the problem, consult a plumber because it may be clogged further down the pipe, such as in an S-shaped trap -
(5) Other laundry/washroom water problems
Other water problems with washing machines and sinks include clogged pipes. Since both are used on a daily basis, various kinds of debris and dirt accumulate around them.
The drainage system is designed to prevent clogging, but after many years of use, it can become clogged due to aging or trouble with the system, resulting in secondary problems such as leakage or backflow.
Once a drainage system malfunctions or stops working, it is an important place that requires urgent attention, so we recommend that you have it professionally cleaned and repaired as part of regular maintenance.
Do you think it’s malfunctioning? If you think so, feel free to call us for a free estimate!
We are always available to discuss any other urgent water problems with your washing machine/washbasin that you may be concerned about.
First aid until workers arrive for a plumbing problem Water leakage/clogging
First aid for water leakage (toilet, kitchen, bath, sink, faucet/tap, drain)
How to close the main valve for the entire house
In the case of a leak in the toilet, kitchen, bath, sink, etc., first calm down and turn off the water. You can shut off the water by turning off the "water shutoff valve" at the point where the leak is occurring.
If you do not see a water shutoff valve, or if shutting off the water supply to your entire home is not a problem, please turn off the main water valve.
The main water valve is located on the ground inside the house in the case of a detached house. For condominiums and apartment buildings, it is located in the pipe shaft next to the front door.Toilet stopcocks are located on either side of the toilet bowl.
There are two types: a type that can be turned with a flat-blade screwdriver and a handle type that can be turned by hand.
Turning it clockwise (clockwise) stops the water supply.
*If your house is equipped with a bidet, be careful not to mistake the valve for the bidet valve.
If you do not see a water shutoff valve, turn off the main water valve for the entire house.
The kitchen and washbasin faucets are located below.
Open the door under the kitchen sink and under the washbasin to check. There is a water supply pipe (water) and a hot water pipe (hot water). Turn the water stopcock clockwise to stop the water supply. There are two types: one that can be turned with a flat-blade screwdriver and the other with a handle that can be turned by hand.
If you cannot find a water shutoff valve, turn off the main water valve for the entire house. The stopcock for the bathroom faucet is located on the leg.
There are two main types of bathroom faucets: wall-mounted and pedestal-mounted.
If the faucet comes out of the wall, turn the "water" or "hot water" stopcock clockwise (clockwise) on the leg or on the back of the faucet to shut off the water supply.
If you do not see a water shut-off valve, turn off the main water valve for the entire house.
First aid for clogs (toilets, kitchens, baths, sinks, drains/drainpipes)
In case of clogged drains in toilets, kitchens, baths, sinks, etc., please wait as it is.
Our staff will rush to the site immediately.
Flushing or touching the drain may cause the clog to go deeper into the drain pipe and make the situation worse.Check fire insurance, homeowners insurance, and personal liability insurance
If you have fire insurance, home contents insurance, or personal liability insurance, you may be compensated for repair costs incurred due to water leakage.
Basically, the insurance does not cover the cost of repairing water leakage, but it may cover the cost of repairing your home (wallpaper, floor, furniture) caused by water leakage damage, as well as compensation for damages to the downstairs of your apartment, depending on the contents of your policy (contents and conditions attached).
First, check your insurance policy. If you do not have the insurance policy on hand, contact the management company or insurance company.

Beware of malicious vendors!
Some plumbing repair companies charge for work that is not necessary, or solicit sales of expensive products that have nothing to do with plumbing repair.
Be wary of contractors with advertisements and flyers offering extremely low prices. If you feel distrustful, please think calmly and respond to the situation.
